Bio
CIG: Professor Sintchenko is Director of the Centre for Infectious Disease and Microbiology – Public Health in Sydney West LHD and an academic pathologist with Sydney Medical School. His research spans clinical decision support, bio surveillance, molecular diagnostics and molecular epidemiology of pathogens with epidemic potential. He has made substantial contributions to the understanding of temporal and spatial patterns of infectious diseases, and the optimisation of clinical decision-making. He edited the first text on Infectious Disease Informatics in 2009 and chaired the Scientific Committee of the First World Congress on Pathology Informatics in 2007. He has been invited to present at major national and international infectious disease control and informatics meetings. He chaired the Public Health Laboratory Network of Australia in 2013-2015 and is a WHO Consultant for the Laboratory Twinning Initiative.
